The state verified the need and authorized the construction of the centers in 2015. Construction of the Fayetteville center began in February 2017, the center opened in May, 2018. It is the first dental only, surgery center constructed in North Carolina. Two other Valleygate Dental Surgery Centers are located in Greensboro and Charlotte, NC.
The necessity of these surgery centers arose from a growing need for pediatric dentist and oral surgeons to have operating room time for their patients. Before the centers surgeons had to block time at surrounding hospitals for procedures that required an operating room setting (which often meant a long wait time for suffering patients). With these new centers, there will be better access to surgery centers and decreased wait time for dental procedures.
Valleygate Dental Surgery Center of Fayetteville is a single story, 13,498 square foot. facility. It’s surrounded by other various medical clinics and offices at One Village Plaza. The surgery center features four treatment rooms, two operating rooms, two procedure rooms, and space for future growth. The design of the center is well organized with procedure and operating rooms on the north side of the building and treatment and recovery rooms on the south side.
The two sides are separated by a central area that consists of everything that doctors, nurses, and staff would need throughout the day. This central area is divided into several different rooms that include equipment and supply, sterile processing, soiled utility, clean supply, locker rooms, and restrooms. The break rooms, admin offices, reception, and waiting are all located on the west side of the building, conveniently adjacent to the parking lot. The front entry, also located on the west side, is beautifully accented by a porte-cochere and a curtain wall system which creates an inviting entry point.
This project used post and beam construction methods with structural steel framing, slab on grade foundation, and an exterior finish consisting of brick/block veneer. The building was designed by Andrew Privette at Designed to Build and RMKM Architecture, our ambulatory surgery planning consultants for this project. The interior was done by Maggie Dutton Interior Designs and themed by Imagination Dental Solutions.
