Softball Soccer Locker Room

California State University, Long Beach

Posted: December 16, 2020 | Projects

A new locker room facility at Long Beach State University houses the women’s softball and soccer teams. It’s located between the softball diamond and the George Allen Field.

Both women’s teams were previously using public locker rooms in the kinesiology building, and the Walter Pyramid for meetings and sports medicine treatment.

Funding for the construction of the clubhouse was achieved through donations from the Long Beach community, Long Beach State Board of Directors members, and the University.

The new locker room is important because it expresses a commitment from the University that Long Beach State University is serious about competing at a national level.“ It’s a big, big deal,” head softball coach Kim Sowder said. “It’s a place where we can bring recruits, and really show them what our culture is about.”

Additional branding and improvements to the clubhouse are continuing, but the teams are happy to call the new locker room their updated home base for meetings, sports medicine treatments, and building team spirit.

A modular building was used for a rapid construction process that could take place with minimal interference to the university.
