As the first building to be constructed in a new mixed-use development off of Reading Road and Farm-to-Market Road 2977, the City of Rosenberg’s new Fire Station No. 3 sets the tone for the entire neighborhood.

The detailed brick and cast stone elements of the tower emphasize the main entrance. These same details continue above the apparatus bays, and celebrate the importance of the fire station and its life-saving apparatus.
Designed to resist 130 mph hurricane forces, the facility incorporates impactrated glazing, a double door system for the glass apparatus bay doors, and a fortified structural system. This, combined with low maintenance and durable materials, helps ensure that Rosenberg Fire station No. 3 will be around to serve its citizens for years to come.
The 8,500-square-foot facility features living quarters for six full-time fighters, two pull-through bays with adjacent support areas, and space for the future addition of EMS apparatus and support. The secured entry is monitored by the lieutenant on staff and has direct access to a treatment room where “walk-ups” from the surrounding neighborhood can receive immediate aid and treatment.
The kitchen’s custom-designed island features a large prep area as well as a lower eating space for all six firefighters. This area is intended to encourage camaraderie and interaction among the firefighters while they cook and dine together. Specially designed clothes wardrobes are built into the walls of the corridor in the sleeping wing. This provides flexibility and convenience for fire personnel to access their personal belongings while moving between the individual bathrooms and bedrooms. A weight room and additional storage area are located in the spaces between roof trusses, creating a second floor and maximizing the usable square footage of the facility.
Together as a team with the City of Rosenberg, the fire personnel, and the neighborhood developer, Brown Reynolds Watford Architects was able to design a facility that the entire community can be proud of.
