Founded in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1974, this iconic brand has been perfecting the pizza craft ever since. Mellow Mushroom stores are unique to every location, and focus on the highest quality food and ingredients produced and served in a unique and unforgettable environment. These factors create an ambiance that keeps the friends of Mellow Mushroom coming back for more.

Jason, Damon, and Andy selected a design team that included Pate Design Group; Sabak, Wilson & Lingo, Inc.; Lastinger Associates; Granade Engineering; and Auburn Structural Design. The contractor chosen was Buffalo Construction, based in Louisville, KY.

The unique design solution fit effortlessly on this .25-acre lot in between the existing row of eclectic older shops on Bardstown Road, a busy corridor in Highlands. With a raised patio overlooking the strip and a contemporary façade consisting of metal panels and vintage wood, it was sure to become a hit with the locals. The front façade of the building is operable to open views and good times to passers-by. This location boasts two full service bars with 50 assorted beers on tap, a private dining/covered patio seating up to 50, an outdoor patio seating, and indoor seating for over 200 patrons.

Construction of this building is loadbearing CMU with a structural steel frame infill. Exterior materials include metal panels, perforated metal, vintage wood, and painted masonry. Additionally, the structure is enhanced through custom artwork, dimensional graphics, and distinctive signage.

The success of this project is the result of an innovative ownership team working in close collaboration with a creative design team and the skillful execution by a seasoned general contractor. This Mellow Mushroom location is sure to become an architectural landmark along Bardstown Road for great food, cold drinks, innovative design, and fun with friends.
