Lowland Credit Union

Studio Four Design, Inc.

Posted: March 25, 2020 | Projects

Lowland Credit Union began operations in 1953 with only $6,600 in assets. It was originally built on the site of American Enka, an old textile factory.  Currently, Lowland Credit Union is the only locally-owned financial institution in Morristown, Tennessee, and serves over 12,000 members with assets in excess of $100 million. Lowland Credit Union is the longest continuously-operating financial institution in Morristown.

In 2016, plans began to formulate for a state-of-the-art headquarters that would reflect the direction toward which the credit union wanted to move. With the help of the Studio Four Design team, the credit union achieved the concept they were looking for. The exterior of the building reflects a contemporary style, compared to the nearby buildings in downtown Morristown. The interior reflects the technology-driven concept toward which the credit union wants to move.

The design to completion was almost three years in the making, and well worth the effort. Lowland held its ribbon cutting on October 22, 2019 to a packed house, and a special guest appearance by NASCAR legend Rusty Wallace.

As President/CEO Mark Creech stated, “The collaboration between Studio Four Design, Burke-Ailey Construction (the general contractor), and the credit union was a great partnership that yielded a state-of-the-art facility that will take Lowland Credit Union well into the future.”

The contemporary style of the new building achieves that look into the future that a state-of-the art headquarters would be proud to reflect.
