Posted: March 17, 2021 | Projects

Brown Daub represents a family of car dealerships in the Lehigh Valley, in the northeast section of Pennsylvania. With the reintroduction ofthe Fiat and Alfa Romeo brands to the US market, Brown Daub has been granted exclusive dealership rights in the region.

As a condition of the franchise, a new building was constructed on a 10-acre site adjacent to an existing Brown Daub dealership.

The new facility features a 6,100-square foot showroom with support offices and a 5,800-square-foot service garage with six bays, a wash bay, and parts storage. Some of the site challenges included the relocation of an existing storm detention area in order to accommodate new paved areas.

Bonsall Shafferman Architects and Space Planners were engaged as the architect of record to prepare construction documents, and to ensure that the design standards for the new facility were followed.

CC Construction Services served as the construction manager. The facility is intended to evoke modern Italian design through form, color, and finishes.

This includes the use of Aluminum Composite Panels (ACM) in red and fiber cement panels in gray on the exterior. An aluminum and glass curtainwall with sun shade was added to enhance aesthetics.

The showroom interior features Italian floor tile manufactured by Fiandre and Alfalux. Pendant lights by Finelite are suspended from red painted metal decking by Canam.

The curves found in the Fiat automobile itself can also be found in the building elements – like the design of the casework and the layout of the floor pattern.

Curved walls of gypsum board and metal stud were built to match the curves of the premanufactured casework; even the floor tile is laid out to form a sweeping curved “street” across the showroom space.
