FQHC’s serve uninsured, underserved, as well as insured residents. Though FQHC’s are not free, patients are treated regardless of their ability to pay, with arrangements based on income and family size. According to the Georgia Department of Community Health, FQHC’s increase access to care, improve patient outcomes, and spread benefits of community-based and patient-centered care.  In the state of Georgia alone, there are 211 FQHC facilities.

Diversity Health’s corporate mission is to provide primary, preventative, and mental healthcare services to the residents of its service area and to provide and maintain the necessary facilities, equipment and personnel required to ensure affordable, accessible and comprehensive healthcare to the residents of its service area, with a particular focus on the uninsured and underserved residents.  Diversity Health Center has been serving these communities since 2008, with over 96,000 visits since opening.

The Diversity Health Center project profiled here is a new facility located in Hinesville, Georgia, completed in July 2018.  This facility replaces their existing building which was undersized and in need of modernization. To accommodate the new facility, Diversity acquired an additional 3.6 acres adjacent to the current clinic site, creating a total site area of 4.6 acres.

The 11,972 square-foot building is one-story with a mechanical mezzanine and covered entry canopy. Thorough advance programming with the users resulted in a design which allows for future clinical growth by sizing administration uses to serve as examination spaces and provider/nurse stations when needs increase. There are no traditional offices for providers or physicians, instead, these personnel are seated with nurses at open stations.

Spaces Include:

  • Large waiting area with concierge desk and self-check-in kiosks
  • Lab
  • Triage / vitals
  • 12 exam rooms
  • Provider / nurses stations
  • 3 future dental exams
  • 3 future pediatric exam rooms
  • Medicine storage
  • Pharmacy
  • Break room
  • Administration offices / support

The site was master-planned to allow for future expansion and continued operation of existing facilities, which are located on the corner of the site.
