A recent Lean Construction Institute owner survey found that, of “typical” projects, 61 percent were behind schedule and 49 percent were over budget. Even among their “best” projects, 21 percent were behind schedule and 17 percent over budget. In that same survey, owners indicated that prefabrication was the leading method to keep schedules and budgets in line.

If the construction industry is anything, it’s consistent. For roughly 20 straight years, the industry has racked up the “least improved” award for having the lowest annual productivity gains globally of any industry. This means construction is still substantially less productive now than it was in 1995, according to a 2017 McKinsey Global Institute (MGI) study.

They were tasked to renovate the existing 11,000-square-foot Spinal Cord Injury Building constructed in 1986 and the 8,000-square-foot Radiation Therapy Building originally constructed in 1993.
