Pate Design Group was retained in 2016 by Brightfire, an Atlanta-based website and digital marketing company, to coordinate and design their new office space just a few miles down the road in Suwanee, Georgia.

The Brightfire team had plans to relocate from a leased office space to a freestanding, 5,950-square-foot building in need of a complete overhaul. This new site is located off Satellite Boulevard on a well-situated lot with peaceful views of a county-maintained pond on the north side of the building and a private parking lot on the south side. The creative and enthusiastic owners fully embraced the design and renovation process to bring to fruition the vision they had for the company.

Chandlee and Sons Construction, a commercial construction company based in Alpharetta, Georgia, was awarded the project in May of 2017. This locally-based company came in with an aggressive schedule to complete this large undertaking by October 2017.

The scope of this project included a complete demolition of existing interiors, a redesign of the floor plan to better fit Brightfire’s needs, new and updated finishes throughout the interior, a new ceiling, and completely updated lighting.

Kirby E. Pate, AIA, of Pate Design Group (PDG), stated: “It was really about getting to know the clients better along the way to understand how to best meet their needs. Visits to their current space and listening to what does and doesn’t fit their work environment led to a finished product that reflects their corporate culture.”

The new layout includes a large, open-concept collaborative working space, unique private offices tailored to the needs of each individual, a kitchen and break area large enough to host employee meetings and weekly yoga and renovated and redesigned restrooms.

Diversified Resource Group (DRG) of Atlanta provided modular cubicle furniture and beautiful etched-glass sliding doors for each office. An industrial, yet modern, rustic vibe is felt throughout the space, with polished concrete floors, metal details, and vintage and live-edge wood throughout.

Chandlee and Sons worked hand in hand with PDG and the Brightfire team to supply these unique wood and metal design elements. A culmination of a great ownership team, along with patience and collaboration with local design companies, proved to be a winning combination in this project.
