A blend of historical correctness and current design is evident in this single-family home located in the Historic Overlay District of Cape Charles, Virginia. All the exterior elements were designed to be consistent with District guidelines.

The traditional front porch is a welcoming sight as you approach the home, complete with a “legacy” bench constructed from the very pecan tree that was cut down to build the house.
The second floor media room empties to a space directly over the front door designed to capture the magnificent view of Chesapeake Bay.
As you enter the 2,500-square-foot home you’re treated to an open-concept first floor with a vaulted kitchen and dining room, punctuated by a two-story stone fireplace. The family room has two walls of windows offering natural light and the best views possible. The spacious master suite includes a large bedroom with a custom-built master closet. The large barn door leads to a beautifully designed master bath complete with a massive tiled shower and comfortably placed soaking tub. Each are flanked by a “his” and “hers” vanity capped off by a private toilet room.
As you gaze down from the second-floor balcony, you’re treated to an expansive view of the kitchen and dining room. This feature offers the volume and atmosphere so important in today’s lifestyle. On one side of the balcony is the media room, the site of informal entertaining. On the other side we find two bedrooms with a hall bath conveniently situated between them. This design makes it a perfect place for family to grow or for visiting guests to stay.
The finished home serves as a retirement residence, with enough space for the owners to entertain company and enjoy the unique Cape Charles atmosphere.
