Add Cost Divisions To Your Project
Use the DCD Magazine & DCD Archives to their Full Potential

We hope you are enjoying these helpful tips in making the most of your Design Cost Data subscription with access to the DCD Archives. We recently updated the web site with more comprehensive construction classifications, easier viewing of project detail (toggle between summary detail and full detail), and new printing options for better reporting. If you have not had a chance to see the changes please log into your account and try them out.

The following is User Tip #4 on getting the most of your DCD subscription and online access to the DCD Archives. This month we will cover how to Add a Cost Division.

After you have logged into the DCD Archives and selected an appropriate project click Customize Project in the Target Criteria area. You will be prompted "Warning - Will Overwrite Your Saved Project", the DCD Archives only allows one project at a time to be modified. Customizing a new project will override the previous project you have created. Click Yes to continue. If successfully archived you should see a green message bar that reads "My Project can now be modified".

Add Division – This appears between the “Project Data” and the “Targeted Building Costs”. Enter your new division number and name. Check the "Building Cost" box to include the division in the building cost and leave the box empty to include it in the "Non-Building Costs". Note: non-building costs are included in the total project cost. Click the "Create" button to add your new division.

To add costs to your new Division:

Add Subdivisions - Located to the right of each division, click on Subdivisions to add, delete, or edit subdivisions within the selected division. Click the "Create" button to add your changes. After your changes have been made click the "back to project" link to return to your project.

After modifying the project: Click the "update" button to make certain everything is saved.

Access to the DCD Archives is included with your subscription. It is a 1,300 plus project database of projects featured in DCD along with DCD’s cost indexes. All projects can be modeled to your date and location generating a new square foot cost model. Prior User Tips are available on DCD.COM covering Logging In, Selecting, and Targeting a Project.
