Recently purchased by new owners, an older mall in Farmington, Michigan was in desperate need of an updated exterior. The owners knew and had worked with Maltese Construction in the past. Knowing the excellent quality of work Maltese delivered for them in the past, the owners contracted with Maltese again to lead the project with pre-construction services and construction.

The community of Farmington was strongly interested in the project along with the City of Farmington. Maltese worked with the client, community and the City to implement a complete re-design of the mall’s exterior along with updated site improvements that included landscaping, lighting, walkways and parking.

During the course of the project existing conditions were exposed requiring additional design and engineering to complete the project. The project was delayed several times for a few weeks to resolve concealed conditions issues.

The end result of the design gives the mall a new updated contemporary look with EIFS, tile, metal, stone and glass features complemented with indirect LED lighting. Other elements include outdoor covered seating areas with metal canopies.

The citizens of the City of Farmington are very happy with the new look. The mall owners are now enjoying renewed and increased leases and the tenants are happy with the increased sales. The owners are now planning phase two for the back retail side of the mall.
