The new Rev. Joseph A. Gietl Pastoral Ministry Center was Phase 2 of a
multi-phase Master Plan. The new Pastoral Ministry Center is linked to
the existing church building with an outdoor plaza enclosed by an
open-air covered walkway colonnade. The focal point of the paved plaza
is a fountain which provides a calming, tranquil sense of entry (with
the fountain's cascading water) to both the church and new Pastoral
The new 10,135-square-foot Pastoral Center was envisioned to replace and
expand the existing administration building, which had been housed for
over 20 years in a converted two-story Rectory. The new Pastoral
Ministry Center building, which was strategically located on-axis with
the existing church entry is accessed through a secured main lobby,
which opens to a large reception area and provides direct access to the
Social Services office suite. The balance of the new Pastoral Ministry
Center building is divided into two distinct areas; an administration
suite, which houses various pastoral and administrative offices and a
total of three meeting rooms of varying sizes and an education ministry
suite with offices accessed both internally and externally through
separate secured entries.
The architectural aesthetic of the new Pastoral Ministry Center building
reflects the existing architectural style and exterior finish materials
of the existing church through the use of brick and cast stone details,
which is where the two (2) building depart. Unlike the construction of
the existing church, which consists of gluman columns and beams and
structural steel as the primary structural framing system. For economy
of cost, the new Pastoral Ministry Center's structural system utilized
load bearing exterior walls of structural gage metal studs and wood roof
trusses. An asphalt shingle roof with R-30 insulation and R-19
insulation in the walls completes the building's
water tight envelope.
