In 2006 New Hampshire based Dennis Mires P.A., The Architects were hired
by Linear Technology to adapt their corporate design to the needs of the
New Hampshire personnel and local climate. Building on the success of
that partnership the Architects were once again hired to adapt building
and program to Cary, North Carolina.
This new 20,000-square-foot office building houses design and testing
facilities for high performance analog integrated circuits.
The plan is made up of four flexible open office areas organized around
a central spine that provides reception, break room, conference, locker
and toilet facilities, as well as the requisite mechanical,
informational, and service functions. The rooftop light well runs the
width of the building providing extensive daylighting to each of the
open office areas. Provisions have been made for an additional 10,000
square feet of expansion space as well as dedicated out-building housing
High performance interior function is also made apparent on the exterior
of the building through the extensive use of crisply detailed ACM panels
in cool white and continuous expanses of curtain wall with integrated
sunshades colored to match the corporate brand. Gabled parapet walls and
high-sloped roof house the light well mentioned above and conceals the
mechanical equipment completing the overall effect of a clean building
