The Smith Center is the multi-purpose gymnasium building at the Jacksonville Country Day School in Jacksonville, Florida. The Center includes a gymnasium, locker rooms, coach's office, snack bar, tutoring rooms, Language Arts classroom, dance/karate studios, multi-purpose meeting rooms, and outdoor restrooms for the adjacent swimming pool.

Extensive relocation of the existing underground utilities prior to the commencement of the building construction was needed. This included excavation of a new large storm retention pond and the filling in of two existing storm retention ponds and associated storm piping. Additionally, new water and sanitary sewer piping was installed for the building. A new electrical transformer was installed which required new underground electrical service and the demolition of the existing electrical transformer.

Sauer Incorporated carefully planned the phasing of the construction due to the location of the new building within the campus as the campus was fully operational at all times during construction. Temporary roads were placed and the entire construction area was fenced in to maintain a separation between school activities and construction activities.

Completed in August 2012, the Smith Center was ready for the students when the new school year began.
