The Clyde Muse Center, named in honor of Dr. Clyde Muse who has served
as President of Hinds Community College since 1977, is located off of
Interstate Twenty in Pearl, Mississippi on the Hinds Community College -
Rankin Campus. Dean and Dean Associates, Architects, P.A. provided the
60-acre campus expansion master plan for the Rankin Campus which
included a new Multi-Purpose Center.
The building serves the campus, community, and State in many capacities.
It provides a variety of spaces for instructional, educational and
social uses. The facility houses a multi-function auditorium/conference
space, classrooms, an administrative suite, a two-story lobby and a food
service area. Six classrooms provide space for student seating as well
as for secondary computer labs. Two industrial start-up classrooms allow
for various manufacturers to set up and provide training on campus. The
administrative suite includes offices for the facility management team
as well as a large conference room that can be used as additional
meeting space for the events utilizing the multi-purpose area.
A large break room doubles as a student lounge area as well as a food
service space for large scale meetings. A full catering kitchen
accompanies the meeting space and serves as classroom space for the
culinary arts program.
An open two-story lobby provides a view through the building leading to
an outdoor plaza along a large water feature. The spine of the building
provides breakout space for the multi-purpose area room and connects to
a second lobby along the north end. The auditorium seats up to 3,000
people and features a fixed stage and a balcony. This flat floor
auditorium can accommodate trade shows and large banquets and has
moveable panels which allow the space to be divided into a multi-room
The 20.4 million dollar facility was completed in 2011 and has filled a

building stays booked four to five days a week and provides a desirable
venue for corporate, professional, educational, community and political
