American Steel outgrew their facilities and looked to create a building
that would reflect their work and products. They chose a metal building
structure they represented and were excited to include custom steel
building components they could fabricate that would showcase their
capabilities and creativity.
The entry structure with its unique columns and curved steel roof
structure is a demonstration of the creativity their company can
produce. The mansard style front office combined their desired look with
a combination of metal building and steel structure. The reception area
spans two stories and shows the steel and metal building interface,
products of American Steel. As you walk through the main doors, the
metal fabricated reception desk is another showcase of American Steel’s
creativity. The entire desk is steel and designed to greet their
customers with the beauty of their work. Visitors also see more visible
evidence of American Steel’s work in the metal stairs, railing,
guardrail and structure of the mezzanine level.
The shop is a large metal building, simple yet filled with complex
systems that makes American Steel an efficient and productive steel
provider in a large portion of the U.S. The systems they use have been
developed over the years.
The beginning of the steel product begins in the exterior yard with the
raw products. It is loaded onto the rollers that lead to the
computerized cutting and drilling machine. Once completed it moves
through the shop on carts and/or cranes to fabricate the pieces into the
product the engineers have designed. On the backside of the shop is the
painting room, large enough to handle their largest piece indoors. Once
completed the piece is simply moved to the loading zones in the exterior
through large hi-lift overhead doors.
The building is a functional, efficient and very comfortable space for
the office and shop staff. Clerestory windows, excellent ventilation
systems, great lighting, a well-insulated building, and a well thought
out site and staging areas make this site and building a success. This
is truly a reflection of the excellence you get from American Steel.
