The Allendale Town Center is a one-story shopping center consisting of
20 tenant spaces ranging in size from approximately 1,000 square feet to
38,000 square feet. The 85,000-square-foot community shopping center is
located two miles off of Route 17, next to Saddle River, Upper Saddle
River and Wyckoff, New Jersey and has parking for 351 cars.
The entire facade of this long-standing shopping center was removed and
replaced with a new updated design while remaining open to the public.
The work involved and required considerable coordination to allow access
to each individual store, provided safety to the public and avoided
interruption of operations as much as possible in order to maintain set
goals.
The project involved the removal of the existing store facades,
including dated storefronts, awnings, canopies and finishes. New entry
features and towers were added to enhance appearance, create visual
interest and invite the public. Finish treatments included aluminum
storefronts and doors, water management EIFS system, masonry, metal
awnings and roofs and new signage was applied throughout. In addition to
a new facade reconstruction a 4,739-square-foot steel frame addition to
the south increased the existing footprint of the shopping center.
The Town Center improvements also included complete site redevelopment:
reconfiguration of the parking lot and drives for improved pedestrian
safety, new site and building lighting, sidewalks, curbing, new paving
of the parking lot and new landscaping, all completed while the shopping
center was occupied. When completed the design of the shopping center
will compliment and unify key architectural elements with the design of
the anchor tenant, A&P Fresh Supermarket.
