Classic Recreation Offers Shelters with Custom-Curved Metal Roofs by Curveline|
Classic Recreation Systems, Inc. has introduced a line of steel shelters with functional yet attractive roofs that are custom-curved using the Curveline process. Designed to offer an aesthetic, cost-effective alternative to site-built structures, the “Colorado” curved-roof shelters come in 10 standard sizes ranging from 8- to 50-feet in width and in any length. Custom sizes are also offered. Curveline can curve the roofing panels to virtually any desired radii to meet design requirements.
The frames and roofing are prefabricated for fast and easy final assembly at the project site using hidden bolt connections. Applications include building entrances or stand-alone structures in parks, rest stops, golf courses, transit stations, school yards, dining pavilions and concession stands, or anywhere else that shade and shelter is needed.
Curveline’s patented “crimp-curving” method creates dimples on the panels that reflect sunlight and add visual interest to the roof. In addition, crimp-curving greatly increases the load factor of the roof panels, making it possible to achieve wide spans with minimal framing – creating open, airy shelters that are strong and durable without massive structural supports. Curved panels are fastened directly to HSS tube steel framing with no need for a subroof.
Standard roofing panels used on the shelters are “HR” exposed fastener panels in 24 gauge steel. Panel supplier AEP Span® offers the panels in a wide range of standard and special colors, including a selection of “Cool Roof” coatings to meet today’s most energy-efficient criteria. 22-gauge roofing is available in limited colors, as well as heavier gauges in galvanized steel only. Other types of exposed and concealed fastener panels are also available as options. Standard support columns are made of tube steel, but numerous other materials including concrete, brick, stone and stucco can be specified.
Colorado model structures are designed to withstand 100 mph winds and 30 psf snow or live loads, but they can be engineered for much greater loads if required. Classic Recreation offers structural engineering calculations for all 50 states and sells the structures in Canada and overseas. Visit
