British School Features MeTecno USA® Panels
Two MeTecno USA Divisions Involved with Chicago Project

British School The prestigious British School, located near Chicago’s North Side, a part of the Blackhawk Halsted project (a mixed-use development), features panels from the MeTecno USA-Benchmark Division and Morin Division.

Approximately 45,750 square feet of MeTecno USA-Benchmark Division’s insulated panels were used during the construction of the development. The Designwall™ 2000 series, from the MeTecno USA-Benchmark Division, features a double-gasket shiplap joint in both vertical and horizontal applications to maximize thermal efficiency and create a double barrier against air and water penetration. This is especially significant in the infamous windy city.

“We decided to specifically choose this product because of aesthetics,” explains architect David Rasche, from the project’s Chicago-based architectural firm. “The corrugated panel is well suited to be installed along the curved surface and show uniformity. The insulated panel is modular/linear, quick and easy to install, provides adequate R-value as well as the water barrier for the building. Both MeTecno USA products are painted steel so getting the desired color and finish was not a problem.”

The MeTecno USA-Morin Division provided another 15,000 square feet of corrugated 20-gauge X-12, concealed fastener, ribbed wall panels for the building. X-12 panels are typically fabricated from galvanized steel, galvalume, aluminum, or stainless steel. Stretch ribs on these profiles are optional and may be eliminated. Coatings come in 16 colors to enhance appearance and provide extended weatherability.

Valerio Dewalt and Train, the architectural firm, is based in Chicago as is Structured Development LLC, the developer of the project. Metal installers were All American Exterior Solutions located in Lake Zurich, IL. The British School building is one of three structures in the development. In addition to the 80,000-square-foot British School building, there is a second commercial building, 146,000-square-foot, also clad in metal and a 547 car parking structure.

The British School teaches important values and maintains high standards in the classroom. To those who want their children educated in British style, this institution promises superior world class learning.

“MeTecno USA is happy to be associated with such a prestigious school,” explains Rachel Scholan, Marketing Manager of MeTecno USA. “Not only does its sleek metal and glass design separate itself from others, but its distinct reputation is something we are proud to be apart of.”

Both panel types add a bold, profiled look to the commercial construction project.

MeTecno USA maintains the distinctive ability to provide customers with a variety of insulated composite panels and architectural metal wall and roof building options from multiple plants across the country. Each division offers unique methods technology, products and services, and is available to assist with all of your metal building needs.
