Met-Tile “Cool Roof ” Line Meets ENERGY STAR® Guidelines

Met-Tile, Inc. has become an ENERGY STAR® partner for its metal tile panel roofing system, which combines the popular look of tile with the high performance of metal. The new “cool roof” Met-Tile line combines all-weather performance and aesthetics with energy savings.

The updated roofing line features a Super Series® 4800 Super Cool™ architectural coating system in 10 designer colors. Manufactured by Specialty Finishes Company, these coatings have solar reflectivity values ranging from 26% to 67+%, meeting and in some cases exceeding Energy Star requirements. (For every 5% of added reflectivity, a roof is approximately 4 degrees cooler in direct overhead summertime sunlight.)

Met-Tile roofing offers an unsurpassed 230+ mph wind rating and complies with the most stringent local, state and national codes, including the Florida Building Code and Miami- Dade County. In addition, Met-Tile offers proven performance in other types of extreme conditions because of its weathertight, moisture-resistant design. It carries the highest rating (Class 4) for impact resistance, the measure of a roof’s ability to withstand hail damage.

The Met-Tile “Cool Roof” line features 10 designer colors that meet or exceed ENERGY STAR® requirements.Though it looks like tile, Met-Tile roofing actually consists of long-length steel panels that are applied vertically and tightly secured with screw fasteners that keep the roof in place, even under the heaviest wind and rain. The 26 gauge panels weigh only 125 lbs. per square (1.25 lb. per sq.ft.). Due to its light weight, Met-Tile may be used for new construction or re-roofing on all types of projects, including those that can’t bear the weight of tile.
