“WaterWay Stucco Assembly”
Enhanced
Traditional Stucco Incorporating
Cavity Construction and Elastomeric Acrylic Finish
From Boston to Seattle, the “WaterWay Stucco Assembly” is finding acceptance with some of the most recognized and distinguished building enclosure specialists in North America. In both new construction and cases of cladding remediation, the WaterWay Stucco assembly accommodates essential criteria in today’s construction environment. Enhancing traditional stucco with an advanced component configuration assures economic feasibility, superior product performance, increased customer satisfaction and reduced potential liability.
The “WaterWay Stucco Assembly” is a new approach to standard stucco incorporating through-wall flashing details, secondary moisture barriers, cavity drainage mat offering a mechanism of space, traditional cement stucco, polymer modified base coat with reinforcing mesh and an Elastomeric Acrylic Finish. This system answers increasing demand for exterior claddings to enhance envelope integrity and extend service life, while reducing potential challenges associated with moisture intrusion.
Stuc-O-Flex, International, Inc. of Redmond, Washington created this modified approach to standard stucco establishing a component configuration achieving design objectives while satisfying client requirements. Over fifteen million feet in service without a single compromise confirm the efficiencies of this “WaterWay Stucco Assembly” design.
The “WaterWay” Stucco approach consists of proprietary selfadhering 100% butyl-based flexible flashing, code compliant WRB, a drainage matrix of random nylon filaments, metal flashing, standard scratch and brown, polymer modified base coat with reinforcing mesh complete with Stuc-O-Flex Elastomeric Acrylic Finish and appropriate sealant. The materials unique to this design are described below:
100% Butyl-Base Flexible Flashing
Aggressive adhesion and initial tack – No priming requirements, no solvents or bleeding oils, compatible with sealant materials, wide temperature range, Class “A” fire rating, and a thick foil fascia on the top surface.
WaterWay Drainage Mat & Secondary Moisture Barrier
Multiple nylon drainage mat profiles are available from ¼- inch to over ½-inch thick. Some are attached to “60” grade D building paper or heat bonded to perforated pure industrial aluminum with fiberglass reinforcement, other profiles are also available with a protective fascia fabric on one side to assure maintained space is achieved for an uninterrupted drainage path. Class “A” fire rated.
Stuc-O-Base & Fiberglass Reinforcing Mesh
Smooth and flatten brown coat prior to Stuc-O-Flex finish application. Increased flexural strength, reduced likelihood of cracks and potential efflorescence. Uniform porosity offers more consistent finished appearance.
Stuc-O-Flex Elastomeric Acrylic Finish
100% pure Acrylic polymer combined with Calcium aggregate (no rust); Unmatched elasticity and crack bridging capability; Over 70 million feet of history – unmodified formulation for over 16 years; Four aggregate finish choices (unlimited texture opportunities); Breathable, water vapor transmission (12 perms/average); and Complete ASTM Testing by 3rd party code recognized facilities.
Considering the litigious nature of construction defect exposure and consequential challenges verses the historical success in remediation utilizing “WaterWay” Drainable Stucco: Put Some Space Between Your Building & The Elements.
