ToughGard®2 and SoftTouch™ Premium Duct Wrap Specified For Trump International Hotel and Tower - Chicago
CertainTeed Corporation announced today that two of its products, ToughGard®2 Textile Duct Liner and
SoftTouch™ Premium Duct Wrap will be used in the construction of the new Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago.
Scheduled to open in 2009, Trump Tower will take up 2.6 million gross square feet and stand 1,362 feet tall, with 90 stories, making it the second tallest building in Chicago and one of the five tallest in the nation. The building’s design plans call for 472 super-luxury condominiums, 286 five-star luxury hotel condominium guest rooms, as well as retail, parking, health club and spa space. As for the building’s sheet metal HVAC ductwork, it will be lined on the interior with CertainTeed’s ToughGard2 and wrapped with SoftTouch Premium Duct Wrap insulation.
“We are very pleased to have our ToughGard2 and SoftTouch Premium Duct Wrap insulation specified in such a prestigious luxury hotel and condominium project,” says Howard Deck, President of CertainTeed’s Insulation Group. “It speaks volumes for our products when they are associated with a world-renowned entity like the Trump Organization; these products should provide Trump Tower residents and guests with real comfort and noiseless air transmission for many years to come.”
ToughGard2 is an acoustical liner used in HVAC sheet metal ducts to absorb unwanted crosstalk and equipment and air rush noise. It also provides quality thermal insulation inside the ducts. SoftTouch duct wrap is usually wrapped around the exterior of sheet metal ducts, providing thermal efficiency that reduces unwanted heat loss or gain from equipment and ductwork. When properly installed, the premium duct wrap can help eliminate condensation problems on cold duct surfaces. At the Trump Tower in Chicago, the two CertainTeed products will work simultaneously to provide a double dose of protection from air leakage, crosstalk and condensation.
